Christopher J. Utz, M.D. Orthopedic Surgeon Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati
Christopher J. Utz, MD is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati and is fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. He is committed to providing medical and surgical management to high school, college, and professional athletes as well as patients trying to maintain an active lifestyle. He specializes in arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, knee, and hip pathology.
Dr. Utz completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at The University of Notre Dame, and medical school education at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He then completed his orthopedic surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. During his residency, Dr. Utz was selected to serve on the CCF residency selection committee and as a clinical instructor for musculoskeletal anatomy. His research interests include injury prevention strategies and pre-operative predictors of outcomes in total joint arthroplasty and hip arthroscopy. He has contributed abstracts and presentations at a number of professional meetings on these topics. Dr. Utz is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America. He completed his fellowship training in Orthopedic Sports and Arthroscopy at the Wellington Orthopedics / University of Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy program.
Dr. Utz is passionate about caring for athletes of all ages. During his residency, Dr. Utz was the team physician for two high schools in the Cleveland area and he helped care for the UC Bearcat football, basketball, and baseball teams as a fellow. He is currently the team physician for Mount Healthy High School and will continue to assist with care for the UC Bearcat football team. Dr. Utz is the medical director for the Cincinnati Cyclones professional hockey team. In addition to high school and college athletes, Dr. Utz enjoys helping patients of all ages maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
